“you shouldn’t be depressed, people have it worse than you”
finally, after years of searching, the person with the worst life ever is found. formally, they are granted permission to be sad. but only them. only they have earned it. no sads for anyone else at all ever

1939: The first ever ‘Festival International du Film’ was scheduled to start on 1 September, but was forced to close after the first night because of the outbreak of WWII. This poster, featuring an illustration by Jean Gabriel Daumergue, is the first and still one of the best.

Eight Writers and the Walks that Inspired them.
This is one of the most beautiful things ever. I am currently working on my own “flaneur” project as inspired by Baudelaire. Writerly promenades are one of my main occupations and interests.

I just applied to like 4 jobs in fashion retail using a ridiculous and badly written (I feel like my French writing skills are shit today) cover letter about how working in fashion retail is akin to a creative job because you can help people build their personas through clothing (I was alluding to Baudelaire’s theory of the dandy), and that as a writer I truly appreciate this form of building a character and the style is the expression of the self and I want to people make art out of themselves. Hahahahha The more desperate I become the more absurd and probably less effective do my applications become.
Ugh, I really, really need a job but it’s so rainy and gray here today and I just want to read and watch films.
